No one goes into the science profession to ?make money? They ?get into it? because they love it. The difference between a ?job and profession?? A job you have to support yourself and anyone else. A profession you would do for free, because you love it. (Needless to say getting paid to do what you do anyway is, wonderful, and it pays the bills.) By the way, academic scientists are (unfortunately) low on the income bracket.
